Huawei launched its latest flagship Honor V10 on November 28th. The new release features popular 5.99 inch bezel-less screen design and is equipped with Hisilicon Kirin 970 octa-core processor and Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for improved artificial intelligence capability. Furthermore, Honor V10 is powered by cutting-edge Face++ technologies to realize fast and reliable face-unlock feature.
Honor V10 aims to become the true “smart” phone, which means artificial intelligence on this phone is highly emphasized. It is because of its new Kirin 970 processor and NPU, which is particularly designed for processing AI. Compared with regular CPU, NPU is 25 times faster with much less energy consumption.
There is great demand to apply facial recognition technologies for such a smartphone with AI genes to really change the world. Zhao Min, president of Honor, shared a story:
“Our endorser Sun Yang, an Olympic gold medalist swimmer, suffers from lost of all his fingerprints due to heavy training, so he can no longer use fingerprint unlocking on regular smartphones. We hope that face recognition can help people with certain needs like him.”
